Position: Under direction, Senior Geographic Information Systems Analysts supervise and/or perform a variety of highly complex professional, technical and analytical duties in the operation of a Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The duties include work in the areas of data maintenance and conversion, complex GIS analysis, GIS application development, GIS server/database administration, and project management.

Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Geography, Cartography, Civil Engineering, Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or
other closely related field;AND
* 3 years years full-time experience operating, maintaining, and implementing automated mapping and/or GIS systems at a level equivalent to a Sacramento County Geographic Information Systems Analyst (Level II).
OR
* Two years full-time experience in the class of Geographic Information Systems Analyst (Level II) within Sacramento County service.

Position: URS Corporation’s Oakland GIS Group is looking for a highly motivated and technically capable GIS professional to join its team. We support a variety of clients from the fields of environmental design, natural resource management, planning, and engineering. Applicants must be enthusiastic and self-disciplined in order to work efficiently in an exciting, diverse, and fast-paced environment.The GIS Specialist will be required to:
- Create, edit, and maintain geospatial databases and metadata
- Provide spatial analyses in support of clients and staff including engineers, biologists, archaeologists, hydrologists, and geologists
- Provide detailed and concise cartographic output
- Develop visualization and communication strategies for data and results presentation
- Develop and implement Server GIS and database applications
- Seek out and respond to new proposals

Experience and skills:
- All aspects of building and using a GIS to solve problems and present results
- Cartographic design - Raster and vector data creation and editing
- Linear referencing and dynamic segmentation
- Georeferencing imagery and maps
- GPS data collection and processing
- CAD-GIS data integration
- Relational database management
- Written and oral communication for all levels of technical understanding

Minimum requirements:
- BS/BA degree
- Two years as a GIS professional
- Strong skills using ArcGIS v.10 and extensions
- Server/Web GIS and database experience (open-source & Esri) is a definite plus
